We are delighted to announce the appointment of Kathy Byrne as the Society’s next Chief Executive Officer.
Kathy Byrne has been appointed as Metfriendly’s new Chief Executive Officer and will take over the role from interim CEO Mark Myers as of 1st January 2019. Mark has led the Society since Stuart Bell’s retirement in May last year.
Kathy has been an integral part of the business since joining in May 2017 as Risk Officer, quickly achieving promotion to become the Chief Finance Officer and Chief Risk Officer. She has an eclectic mixture of experience in insurance, savings and risk.
An entrepreneur, Non-executive Director serving at board level, and qualified actuary with over 30 years in the business, Kathy has a wealth of experience within financial services.
Commenting on her appointment, Kathy Byrne said: ‘I’m delighted to be taking on the CEO role to build on Metfriendly’s 125 years history. The police service is changing and Metfriendly will change with it to provide members with products and services to meet their financial needs.’
Our Chair Joanna Young, who was also appointed recently in June, said of Kathy’s appointment: “Kathy was selected from a strong pool of applicants to lead Metfriendly as CEO and I was delighted when she accepted the role. I believe her extensive experience in the financial sector, commitment to Metfriendly’s members and considered leadership style are a great combination for Metfriendly.”
Kathy’s appointment to the role is a significant milestone for Metfriendly and she will become the first female CEO of the Society. We hope members will join us in wishing her the very best in her new role.
