The Direct Debit Guarantee

This Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits

If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit Metropolitan Police Friendly Society will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request Metropolitan Police Friendly Society to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request.

If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by Metropolitan Police Friendly Society or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society

Confirming Your Identity
In order to process your application Metfriendly will refer to Credit Reference Agencies to confirm your identity. This search will leave a ‘footprint’ on your credit file, which is required to record that the check has taken place. This footprint is not the same as a credit check footprint and has no negative impact on your file.

I understand that you will undertake a search with a Credit Reference Agency for the purposes of verifying my identity. To do so the Credit Reference Agency may check the details I supply against any particulars on any database (public or otherwise) to which they have access.
