When should I contact you to make a claim?

You can contact us (please ask for Claire Duval) as soon as you think you are likely to make a claim. To prevent any delay in us making payments to you, you should always contact us:

  • as soon as you are advised by HR of the date of your reduction in pay, and your right to appeal
  • or at least 4 weeks before your pay is reduced
  • in instances of Critical Illness claims under this cover you should contact us as soon as possible after you are diagnosed

What information do I need to provide when making a claim?

Contact us on 01689 891454 to obtain a claim form which you complete and return to us, together with:

  • your current medical certificate
  • official notice of half pay
  • bank details
  • consent to obtain medical reports from both your Doctor and the police service

If accepted, when will my claim pay out?

  • Income Protection Claims

Income protection claims will be paid on the 6th of the month following any reduction in your pay due as a result of your being placed on long-term sick.

  • Critical Illness Claims (under the Income Protection Plan)

We aim to make any payments due within 5 working days of your claim being accepted.

When should I contact Metfriendly to make a claim?

You can make a claim if you are diagnosed with one of the critical illnesses listed in your current policy wording or if you are medically retired from the police service for a physical injury/illness.

To prevent any delay in us making payments to you, you should contact us as soon as you think you are likely to make a claim. Please ask for Claire Duval.

What information do I need to provide when making a claim?

Contact us on 01689 891454 to obtain a claim form which you complete and return to us, together with your consents to obtain medical reports from both your Doctor and the police service (where applicable).
